11-17

Observation- working with a group is frustrating

Analysis- when some one does not do what they say they will you can be left doing more to complete things

Action- make sure that they are accountable to what they need to do.

Observation- working on a lesson with a group can both be helpful and frustrating

Analysis- we don't all see the end goal and it is hard to help others learn and get excited about something if they are not interested. this will be how it is with teaching. not all the kids will be interested in what you are teaching so how do you keep them engaged if they don't care? Im sure that this is the never ending battle all teachers face every day

Action- talk with other teachers and learn what they do when they have this situation and how they handle the wild kids

11-3

Observation- this week was mostly about how others teach and i like how some really seam comfortable

Analysis-Not all of us are made for teaching and others are so natural up in front of the class

Action- work on feeling natural in front of the class

I did not feel that their was anything that really jumped out at me this week

10-27

Observation- the more we prepared the easier it becomes to teach with passion

Analysis- As we have listened to each other teach you can see who has prepared their lessons in advanced and who just through it together.

Action- No matter what we think the best lessons have preparation and passion Work on always trying to be prepared and don't through it together the lessons will suffer.

10/20

Observation- the thought of teaching a 30 min lesson sounded like a long time. Trying to teach in just 30 min was hard

Analysis- when it came down to it teaching a lesson and trying to do it in 30 min was harder than i thought. working on my timing was something that i was not ready for. I tried to anticipate how much input the class would give to help with the timing. I was not expecting the responses that i revived and that made me not be able to get it all done.

Action- work on paying attention to the time and shorten the lesson in places to be able to finish on time. Also pay attention to what you print so you do not hand out the answers.

10-13
Observation- As we teach we need to look for opportunities for us to learn also.
Not all classes are organized and it works for them.
testing has its place

Analysis- The idea of teaching/learning is one that makes me think about ways to learn form what you teach and also form those you are teaching.
Some teachers do not find it important to have structure and that works for them.
Testing is not just making up questions but it has its place.

Action- work on the 3 person teaching and it will help me learn
Except that i might be placed in classrooms that the students are not expected to have structure and discipline. I need to look for a middle ground that will work for each class.
being aware of how to make test that will help the students learn and grow instead of just checking their knowledge.

Observation- you have to be very organized and work on your lesson plans

Analysis- lesson plans are the central part of teaching and you have to be flexible enough to alter them if it doesn't work

Action- look at lesson plans when I go to do observations to better understand how other teachers are doing it

9/29
Observation- teaching middle school or any age students is all about establishing order and haveing clear rules and guidelines for how the class should go.

Analysis- this is the second time that this has come up. the way you structure your class room will make or break you with having a successful year.

Action- continue to gather ideas and understand how and when certain rules are implemented.

Jr. High Observation 2

I went to North Sanpete middle school in North Sanpete school district. I contacted Mr. O'dee Hansen the Principal and he set me up with the CTE/Buisness teacher Carey Ivory. I spent 2 hours with Carey Ivory. The firs hour was her prep hour and i was able to talk with her and find out some of her opinions of CTE today. Her main focus in the first part of the year is to teach the kids how to type. She felt that this is the bases for better computer skills. The district has completely removed this as a requirement so she has integrated it into her corse curriculum. I found her teaching methods refreshing. Mrs Ivory said she spends the first two weeks working on house keeping witch I love this idea. She feels that if she does this, the kids work better and she has less distractions. At one point the students were asked to get up and get something form their bags and almost all of the students got up and pushed in their chairs. She told me this is one the house keeping rules that she works on. It was obvious that it worked. I enjoyed my time with Carey and would love to spend more time observing her.

Observation notes 9/22 Ephraim Middle School Mr. Halling

Observation notes: I'm unable to finish the FED form the site"www.usoe.org" does not work. the classroom ambiance was relaxed. Mr Halling was very excited to show me the STEM Lab that they are using right now. He allowed me to wander around the class and asked the students to spend a moment telling me what they are doing. They have 15 diffrent stations that the kids rotate through and learn about different technology and engineering concepts. From what i could see Mr Hallings instructional strategies is to allow the kids to work at their own pace. He was more interested in what they learned then how much they completed. Mr Halling was well dressed with a button shirt and slacks on. the students seem to be enjoying the labs and were excited to explain to me what they have been learning.
9/22
Observation- Went to Ephraim Middle school watched how the shop class has introduced technology modules in its class room

Analysis- Found it interesting that the shop is doing more of the Technology and engineering courses and less of the traditional wood shop classes

Action- the action is to continue to watch and learn what is being taught in the modern shop classes

This week's observation: teaching requires you to use a moral compass in order to guide the students

Analysis: Work on understandingwhat direction that moral compasupport needs to piont

Action: gather rules and other guidelines that teachers are using to help with guidelines for when I'm teaching. Remember to understand where the students are coming from and to make the plans best fit the school amd students.

Pay attention to the needs of the community and the kids themselves.
Every once in a while a white lie can change a kids life.

9/6
Observation- Different teaching methods

Analysis- Some people have a more natural way of teaching. it shows when they are nerves, prepared, and feel confident in what they are teaching

Action- work on overcoming the anxiety of teaching and find the joy in showing others that you know what your doing

9/8
Observation- Many Educational Philosophers have played a great roll in teaching

Analysis- We can learn a lot from the different philosophies that are directed towards teaching. not everyone learns the same way or thinks the same.

Action- learn more about the different ways that students learn and absorb information so i can connect on many levels

Thursday, September 1, 2016

Write a reflection/capture of what you learned that week in class, be it from lectures, reading, observations, etc. Note: a capture is a critical analysis of what you were exposed to, not a simple dialog, but rather a critique.

8/30
Observation- understanding that rules are needed, looking at my strengths and weaknesses will help me be a better teacher.

Analysis-  It is important to have rules. just like with my kids if you don't have rules anarchy ensues.
Taking a look at my own strengths and weaknesses alows me to better understand what                      I need to work on and will use to be a good teacher.

Action- I need to work on what i feel would be the best rules to start with.
If i list my weaknesses i will have things to work on.

9/1
Observation- Use mixed methods to teach, looking beyond the normal (ata mal pin)

Analysis- It is important to use severial methods to help engage the students because not all learn                    the same way
stepping out side of the box and looking is important

Action- I need to make sure that me lessons are not boring and teach severial diffrent ways at the
the same time to help others learn.
If i look for new ways to explain things to the students. plan activity's that teach through
             demonstrations.
